Service Description

The aim of this program is to equip you with understanding and techniques so that you feel safe and confident: a) when you attend drop-in yoga classes AND/OR b) when you practice yoga on your own It is designed to support you if you are a first timer, beginner, "It’s-been-a-while"-er, or you attend yoga classes and are frequently confused or afraid of doing yourself harm. Additionally, it supports experienced Yogis or Yoginis who are contemplating taking your first teacher training and want to get a look and feel for what teaching beginners might be like. Witness how an experienced teacher shares their craft. Make a smaller investment to make selection of the right teacher training program easier, by understanding what elements are important to your development. CONTENT: - What is yoga, where does it come from and why does lineage matter? - How to practice yoga including 3 essential elements - Mantras and philosophy - Warm Up Postures - Fundamental Postures - Wind Down Postures - Elements of a ‘yogic' lifestyle FORMAT: 6 x 75 minute classes on Fridays. All sessions are in person at the Waterfront Hub in St George at 6pm. Arrive 5-10 mins early, as we will start on time. Maximum 8 students. SCHEDULE: Class will be held on: February 13th, 20th, 27th, March 6th, 13th, 20th INCLUDED: - Equipment - Qualified & experienced instruction by Clare Dominguez, founder of Explore In NOT INCLUDED: - Practice journal: it is recommended that you bring a notebook and a pen - Wear comfortable clothing, with layers that you can remove as you warm up. - We will practice barefoot. If you’re sensitive to the cold, some leg warmers can be useful or we have a few pairs of grip socks available for purchase at the hub. There are no prerequisites and it is open to people of ages 15 & up. If you are experiencing financial difficulty and believe that yoga will improve your life circumstances, we are open to discussing options to include you. If you are a person whose main occupation relates to cultivating holistic health in others or our planet, we are open to a skill share, or work trade. Let us know what is your offer of a mutually beneficial exchange. The class series can be done privately if you have your own group of 4 or more people. Groups can create their own schedule, and may have the option to condense the classes into 3 x 2 hour sessions.
